I’m thinking of writing an an introduction to SD-WAN (Software Defined Wide Are Network) appliances and offering some examples of how they can significantly improve SaaS and VPN performance as well as improve the quality of VoIP and Video conferencing.
If there’s some interest, I’m happy to dive deeper and provide some examples of a few different vendor’s SD-WAN implementations and when you might want to use one vendor’s over another.

That sounds fascinating, as a software developer, just from the name. What exactly makes a SD-WAN different from a hardware-defined WAN? What are the specific benefits of using a SD-WAN over a traditional WAN?

I think that it is a good idea to talk about SD-WAN as more and more services are going to the cloud for implementation and automation.
