Phala Updates v0.0.1 (2.9–2.16)

Mainnet:

  1. Implemented TEE side Substrate light validation client;
  2. Export consensus data from Substrate side;
  3. Consensus data transmission in Substrate-TEE bridge;
  4. Researching communication encryption.

  1. Reached cooperation intention on Intel SGX certificate, TEE data storage and token economy with another Substrate-based project Crust;

Phala Updates v0.0.2 (2.17–2.23)

Mainnet:

  • Almost completed the Milestone 2 of the Grant (Congratulations to our devs!); implemented Substrate-TEE bidirectional validated bridge;
  • Researched on ECDH + AES-GCM communication encryption and ERC20 Demo module;
  • Prepared documents and demos for Milestone 2 submission
  • Refined our Economic Whitepaper. Will publish in bilingual version (English and Chinese);
  • Prepared a list of credited miners for the upcoming launch.

Product (Web3 Analytics)

  • Completed backend interface with mocked API;
  • System integration will be done by the end of next week;
  • Researched on user documents: instruction, user agreement, and privacy policy.

Community

  • Hold an AMA about our technology and product with Ourea Community at UTC 12:00, Feb.20, with 40KSM give-away;
  • Have over 200 followers on WeChat Subscription Account, 160 followers on Twitter, over 650 people in 3 WeChat groups and 85 people in our official Telegram group;
  • Over 5,000 people read our articles on Chinese blockchain media.
  • Finished design and brainstorming of our community building plan which will be executed by next Monday.

Phala Updates v0.0.3 (2.24–2.29)

Mainnet:

  • Communication encryption between TEE-SDK (ECDH + AES-GCM);
  • Web UI skeleton for Milestone 2;
  • Researched protocol messages encryption (command & query) and tokenization;
  • Mainnet economics: Simulation on the economic design.
  • Various TEE Miner hardware compatibility tests and composability tests; Named a list of qualified suppliers with standards of configuration and pricing determined.

Web3 Analytics:

  • Launched the first Frontend and fixed bugs;
  • Fundamentally completed backend algorithms and APIs;
  • Researched computation implemented in confidential contracts.

Community:

  • Applied contribution point system to promote community activity;
  • Recruited one volunteer in assistance of translation (many thanks to him);
  • Published an article of AMA review on Medium;
  • Completed account building on Facebook/LinkedIn/Reddit/Crunchbase.

Phala Updates v0.0.4 (2.28–3.08)

Mainnet:

  1. Completed Phala Economic Whitepaper; under review by experts; will be released next week;
  2. Milestone 2 Demo finished 95%:
  • End-to-end encryption of commands and queries;
  • Identification verification of queries;
  • Implemented Confidential ERC-20 contract;
  • Web UI for transferring and balance querying;

Web3 Analytics:

  • Almost finished the logic of general user data and behavior analysis.

Phala Updates v0.0.5 (3.9–3.15)

Mainnet:

  • Completed the development of W3F Grant Milestone2; will sum up all works and submit next week;
  • Started to work on the Intel SGX Commercial License;
  • Launched “The Awakening of Mining” event to collect compatible mainboards as the first step to build our TEE miner ecosystem;
  • Completed miner hardware design (blueprint, mainboard assembling, system installing, outfit design) and sent materials to our vendor;
  • Reached specific cooperating agreements with Crust, a decentralized storage protocol on Substrate.

W3A Product:

  • Completed the development of all APIs of UI;

Mainnet:

  • Submitted the Grant-Millstone2 Report to Web3 Foundation; applying for a new Grant for W3A
  • Redesigned our official website
  • Officially launched the Chinese version of our Token Economics Whitepaper followed by a bounty quiz game. English version and event is coming soon :slight_smile:
  • Completed the design and assembling of our demo miner. Will put it into mass production soon. By the way, over 10 participants have passed the motherboard test with our instruction!
  • Planning on KSM Airdrop and looking for cooperation from KUSAMA nodes.

W3A Analytic Tool:

  • Completed backend development;
  • Composing developer documentations.

Activities:

  • Marvin Tong wrote an article about the data leak of Chinese Twitter “Weibo” and BECAME A HIT on Chinese websites with over 500k clicks.
  • Hang Yin was invited to an online Polkadot forum hold by BIKI Exchange and shared Phala’s opinion about the future of Polkadot and privacy protection.
  • Hold a giveaway event on Twitter with Math Wallet, attracting over 2.5k new followers and 100 new members in our Telegram group.
  • Launched “The Privacy Awakens” program.

PoC-1 Testnet Is Ready | Phala Updates v0.0.7

Mainnet:

  • Completed development of PoC-1 testnet (POA & Single Node TEE) which will be launched on March.30th! Candy program will start soon after the testnet launches;
  • Configuration parameters of official mining hardware “Sentinel” are settled. Online sale and assembling service will be available next week;
  • 3 more motherboards passed our test. Now we have 17 types of motherboards tested in “The Privacy Awakens” program.
  • Officially published Phala Token Economics Whitepaper on our website.

Product: Web3 Analytics

  • Completed UI development of user client;
  • Completed debugging of API;
  • Completed 90% of frontend development.

Community

  • Rounded off our Twitter airdrop with Math Wallet as 200 KSM sent to all winners! We now have 3,224 followers on Twitter.
  • Over 150 participants attended our “Token Economics Whitepaper Quiz Game” in the Chinese community and 73 winners won rewards for their speed and talent at last.
  • Uploaded 5 episodes of “Learn Phala’s Token Economics in 5 Minutes” videos and claimed over 900 clicks. English version will be uploaded to Youtube as well :slight_smile:

Testnet PoC-1 Launched | Phala Updates v0.1.1 (3.30–4.5)

Mainnet

  • Launched testnet PoC-1 which has private transfer and private token with 4 bounty quests. Until GMT 11:30, Apr.5th, there have been 209 privacy tokens and 305 contract innovations on testnet; 56 users have completed Quest I (to transfer and issue their own privacy tokens). For the full list of reward giving, you may refer to the doc on our Github;
  • Added a search function on testnet; faucetbot, Substrate update, and UX improvement is under development according to advice from the community;
  • Fixed an error on Polkadot-js: Throws an error when signing with a locked;
  • Improved user experience on Phala forum;

Web3 Analytics:

  • Almost completed all pages of frontend development;
  • Improving the structure of backend to perform a better authorization design of data rental and standardized protocols.

Community:

  • Launched the PoC-1 testnet bounty program on our forum, where over 100 topics have been created for event discussion. For the full list of reward giving, you may refer to the doc on our Github;
  • Had over 5,000 messages discussing testnet evet in our community groups last week with an impressive activity rate of 45.47%. Harvested over 2,600 impressions and clicks on contents related to Phala testnet;
  • Translated Yuval Noah Harari: the world after coronavirus from English to Chinese.

Activity:

  • Hang Yin attended Zero-Knowledge Summit 5.
  • On 5th April, Zhe Wang, COO of Phala Network, shared his experience as a serial entrepreneur at CampusVC.

W3A Demo Completed | Phala Updates v.0.1.2 (4.6–4.12)

Highlights:

  • Phala was listed in Polkadot Lightpaper as one of the “Friends of Polkadot & Substrate”;
  • Web3 Foundation Team published Web3 Builders: Phala Network and Web3 Analytics;
  • The event of testnet PoC-1 has come to its end, with 264 private tokens and 200+ forum topics created by over 100 participants.

Development:

  • Completed W3A Demo development; will showcase it on Web3 Builders talk;
  • Improved the plan of PHA airdrop wave I: KSM Stakedrop;
  • Got Intel SGX commercial license;
  • Improved UI design of testnet PoC-1;

W3A Demo Released | Phala Updates v0.1.3 (4.13–4.19)

Highlights:

  • Hang did a showcase about W3A demo and shared how to build a confidential smart contract on Web3 Builders;
  • Released the concept video of Web3 Analytics;
  • pLIBRA has passed Milestone II verification of Web3 Foundation.

Development:

  • Completed client-end development of W3A; started demo testing for developers;
  • Completed development work scripts of Wave I airdrop campaign;
  • Completed the gateway matching of Phala’s mining hardware, starting over-the-air programming; also improving it and adding functions according to user feedback.

Community

  • Hold PHA giveaways for Web3 Builders talk and Jinse Caijing AMA;
  • Had 175 audiences watched Hang’s share on Crowdcast and 75 audiences on Bilibili;
  • Translated and published How Apple and Google are tackling their COVID privacy problem .

Testnet PoC-2 & KSM Stakedrop On The Way | Phala Updates v0.1.5 (4.27–5.3)

Highlights

  • Phala was enrolled by Web3.0 Bootcamp jointly hold by Web3 Foundation and Wanxiang Blockchain;
  • Testnet PoC-2 is ready to launch! It will support a decentralized network that supports Gatekeeper nodes and NPoS for nominators to stake for the Gatekeepers;
  • KSM Stakedrop will be launch on May 10 with development and communication work completed;
  • Hang gave a lightning talk at Sub0; Marvin attended Polkadot Round Table Talk and an online workshop with DARWINIA and other Polkadot ecosystem projects.
  • Completed development of ERC20 contract and delivered 7390 PHA to all the prize winners. Transfer will not be available until mainnet / listing launches.
