FreeBSD is a solid choice on a server, and it’s ubiquitous in the infrastructure world, but how does it hold up as a desktop machine? As a developer workstation? I found out.
Thanks for the write up Jeremy.
I can also confirm that Ruby and Elixir work well for back-end development on FreeBSD.
Additionally I’m using Sublime Text, so I wonder what issue you had trying to run that?
I may update the article, I was able to get it running on my laptop (CURRENT) but in release (2 machines) it was just dying immediately with no output. I’m still investigating it.
