3-Minute Font and Design Tips for Hackers: Colors

Hi everyone! I write a series called FontDiscovery. Every week I write a digestible visual guide with examples and case studies to help makers step up their design game. This week, I share some tips about how to choose colors.

Colors in art history
Colors have meaning. For example, artists used colors very intentionally. Picasso had blue and rose periods to evoke different feelings.

Colors in branding
When you are designing your brand or product, choose colors with care and intention. It’s good to test colors in different environments, like dark or light backgrounds.

Don’t use too many colors
The best case is to have one primary color associated with your brand. If you have multiple colors, create a system for your colors.
